They are fully useful shotguns for sporting clays and hunting all upland birds, including pheasants. Federal offers 8 1/2 and 9. Back in the day before all the new powders and such ( i always used win powders) i had a 28 ga load for the 20 and i reloaded a lot of 11/16 oz loads for the 12 ga.
My preferences have me choosing between a citori 725 32. The standard load is 3/4 ounce of shot, and there are some 7/8 ounce loads and winchester makes a one ounce load that will bust a wild south dakota rooster. To me it seems to add an additional element of fun and a little more challenge to the round than shooting one of the bigger guns.

In the aa hull, you have picked the “gold” standard. With any subgauge shooting is that it is normally done with a gun and/or tube set that differs markedly from the 12 ga gun the sporting clays competitor normally uses. The 28 gauge doesn't give up much except weight to a 20, 16, or even a 12 gauge.
My reloader is a mec 600jr. Most of the guys who responded above must be trap shooters who occasionally shoot a round of sporting clays. When shooting fitasc, the maximum permitted load is 1 ounce (28 grams) and spreader shells are not permitted.

20/28 13.0 gr, winaahs, w209, waa28hs wad, 3/4oz lead; I like using my 28 ga. And finally several manufacturers have listened.
Like the stalwart shells we have come to know over the years from federal premium, these new top gun sporting loads will have many of the same accurate characteristics. Federal premium has recently unveiled new top gun sporting loads for clay shooters in 4 shotgun calibers with different shot sizes just in time for spring shooting. I confess that i have never used any of the spredr loads.
I normally shoot a beretta 303 30″ gun for 12 ga sporting clays. I recently purchased a ruger red label in 28 gauge to shoot skeet and sporting clays, i want to reload winchester aa’s, what shot cup and powder do you recommend? The jeffrey is cylinder in the right barrel and that is open enough.
