Ruger 1022 Sporter Vs Carbine
I have had my eye on the ruger 10/22 sporter model. The sporter slim barrels are longer than the carbine.
I'm new to guns but looking to buy a 10/22 but was wondering why the ruger 10/22 tactical autoloading rifle is $330 while the ruger 10/22 carbine autoloading rifle is only $280.

Why is the sporter 0.7lbs heavier than the carbine?. Other than external difference including stock material the addition of sling attachments checkering etc. My guess is the sporter is your closest bet.

I did pretty well at 25 yards but after that you would need a scope. You need to compare it to the price of a current 10/22 dsp deluxe model. I am curious if the longer barrel provides for better accuracy over the carbine model.

If the used one is a sporter with a walnut stock (10/22 dsp), i would guess that it's the sporter that you're paying the premium for, not the older aluminum parts. It has a shorter barrel (16.12” instead of 18.5”), shorter overall length (34” instead of 37”), and a shorter length of pull (12.5” instead of 13.5”), all of which makes this gun great for smaller builds. What’s the difference between the ruger 10/22 carbine and sporter. I want to buy a 10/22 sporter but i do not have the opportunity to shoulder it because my lgs does not have one.
They are a little bit heavier at 32 ounces and are matte black on both ends but are still drilled and tapped to accept cantilever scope mounts.
